Why town pages matter
People search for a trade and a town: "roof repair Mesa", "electrician West Chester", "landscaper Pasadena". If your site only says you serve "the greater metro area", search engines have little reason to show you for each town, and a homeowner in one suburb can't tell whether you'll drive out to them. A page for each town you want work in fixes both problems.
The trap: copy-paste town pages
Plenty of contractor sites have fifty town pages that are the same text with the town name swapped. Search engines have learned to ignore pages like that, and visitors can tell. A town page has to say something true and useful about working there, or it's better left out. The grid above shows how we decide: some service and town pairs get their own page, some fold into the main town page, and some aren't worth a page at all.
What goes on a town page
- The services you offer in that town, linked to the full service pages
- Finished projects from that town or nearby, pulled from your gallery
- Local details you know from the work, such as common house ages, roof types, soil or permit steps
- Neighborhoods or nearby communities you also cover from there
- An estimate form with the town already filled in
Picking the towns
Start with the places you want more work in and can reach without losing half a day to driving. We look at your past jobs, where the profitable ones came from, and how people search in each area, then suggest a first list. It's usually better to launch with five strong town pages and add more as you finish jobs there than to launch thirty thin ones.
How pages connect
Each town page links to the services offered there and to nearby projects. Each service page lists the towns it covers. Each project names its town and links back to that town page. These links help search engines understand where you work, and they help a visitor move from "who does this near me" to "here's a job they did down the street".
Questions
Can I add town pages later?
Yes. We set up a template so new town pages follow the same layout, and you or we can add one whenever you start taking regular jobs in a new area.
How many town pages should I have?
As many as you can write something real for. For most trades that's somewhere between a handful and a couple of dozen, depending on how far you travel.
